Fresh Appeal from Nepal Prime Minister: Nepal Earthquake

“We need tents. Our people need shelter. With the rainy season, it will be difficult for people to survive in the open,”  said Prime Minister of Nepal Sri Sushil Koirala after arriving in Charikot by helicopter. Charikot is 140 kilometres (85 miles) north of Kathmandu, the Nepalese capital.

Koirala promised help. “We all have to work with a new determination to build a new Nepal. All our efforts will be to reconstruct homes and rebuild the lives.”

There is also a shortage of tarps and tents in Kathmandu, with some people even using cardboard boxes as temporary shelters.

Konviktion’s addition :

The villagers of remote places in Nepal are in dire need of food, shelter……………….they are even staying in the earthquake shaken houses only to save themselves from rain. They need tents and other equipment for temporary shelters. There is scarcity of foods also. I believe if bigger countries could contribute them the production surplus like crops[rice, pulses etc] then it will be a great help for Nepal. I believe the relief workers should carry proper maps where villagers are located in different places. When they are patrolling in the helicopters they can easily locate people. People are coming crossing miles after miles in the army base camps searching for foods and other relief materials. If the army bases can be used for supplying food materials and other needed things[even medical assistance] then it can be a great help for the villagers.
