About 5000 schools are totally damaged. People are glad, that the earthquake didn’t happen on a regular school day. Just think about it.
Schools are still closed….. As per goverment – so I have been told – they should be operating again already, but the issue is: they don’t exist anymore. The country has around 200 orphans, but for sure there are more in the villages.
Nepali officials are divided over who leads the rebuilding work. The family who are living in the old City face new challenges – the damaged houses are kept from falling by using strategically placed wooded beams.
One headline in the KathmanduPost made me smile a bit: “Jailbirds at risk as prison building develops cracks.”
All in all: earthquake victims are super busy in creating temporary shelters – EVERYWHERE!!!
