My name is Madison Long and I’m from Covington, Ga. I have the incredible opportunity to join with the Baptist Global Response (BGR) and a team of 5 others to go to Nepal. On April 25, 2015 an earthquake of 7.9 magnitude hit Kathmandu, Nepal and the surrounding areas. With 120 afterschocks being recorded, on May 12, 2015, Sindhupalchok, Nepal had one of the biggest devestations from the 7.3 magnitute afterschock with 2,000 deaths. The total death toll is exceeding 8,000 people. Because of the devestation, the Nepali people need our help to sift through the rubble and build houses and temporary shelters. The earthquake not only damaged houses and other buildings, but tramatized the men, women, and children. Our goal when going to Nepal is to: 1. Rebuild homes and build temporary shelters, 2.
