On Sunday 6th September the thirteenth annual Zee London Mela took place in a sun-drenched Gunnersbury Park under blue skies in Acton West, London.
The Festival was a resounding success with standout performances from Mumbai based Benny Dayal and his band Funktuation who travelled to London to appear at the event. Also appearing on the main stage was Dutch sensation Imran Khan, as well as a stunning collaboration between the Dhol Academy and French outdoor theatre specialists Transe Express’ Mobile Homme, which closed the show to a spectacular backdrop of fireworks.
The BBC Asian Network Stage featured jumping sets from Sama Blake and man of the moment Zack Knight and the stations popular DJ’s also made energetic appearances throughout the day.
The Global Local Stage line up covered classical, world and independent music with an eclectic bill that included sets from, Hussein Brothers Qwaali Group and Desi reggae specialists Cold Fever.
