98 days in Nepal

It is with mixed emotions that I realize that – in two weeks’ time – I will still be sleeping, only to wake up in another bed in another country. Three months in Nepal – 98 days in total – gone so soon. Appreciating symmetry, I’d love to round that number to a solid 100…but I’d rather fly into the UK on a Saturday anyway.

I started in Kathmandu for a week of training (late June) before making the beautiful yet arduous trek to Chitwan for my first group of medical volunteers. Teenagers…together, almost 24/7 – that was the rule. The days were busy and full – hospital visits/runs, afternoon activities, case studies, dinner, bed. It was lonely at times, of course it was.
