Recently I attended a presentation by Martin Punaks from Next Generation Nepal (NGN). An American NGO that is fighting the battle against child trafficking. The founder Connor Grennan wrote in his book ‘Little Princes’ of his experiences and following actions against Orphan exploitation. NGN now works alongside Nepal Government agencies and international organisations to expose abusive and exploitive orphanages. They rescue the children and through extensive investigation reunite the children with their families, as best as they can. They work alongside these families, sometimes for years following, to ensure they stay united.

This is a monumental effort by a relatively small organisation for a problem that even world leaders struggle to fix. The most vulnerable in society will always be the targets of the inscrutable and dishonest in society. What can one do to stop this abuse of children and families? First by becoming aware.
