Thousands of Nepal’s earthquake victims will continue to need help till they rebuild their lives. Here’s an easy way for you to assist their efforts.The Times of India Group has partnered with Uber and NGO Goonj to enable donations to be picked up from your home.
All you need to do is access the Uber app in a mobile phone. Slide over to the UberAID vehicle option in the app and request a vehicle between 11am and 4pm on Tuesday and Wednesday (May 5-6). An UberAID vehicle will come to your pickup location to accept your contributions for free.
What you can donate*
Solar lanterns, candles, torches, batteries | Tarpaulin sheets (12x18ft), tents | Blankets | Dry ration (rice, pulses, spices, milk powder, tea leaves, sugar, biscuits) | Ropes, basic cooking utensils | Hygiene products like soap, paste, toothbrush, detergent, sanitary napkins | Wheelchairs, crutches, basic medicines | Working mobile handsets | Bedsheets, mats, raincoats, umbrellas | Water purifier tablets.
Uber will drop off the contributions to Goonj collection centres, from where these will be sent to Nepal. This arrangement will work in five cities: Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad & Kolkata.
